​As an educator for 21 years he has taught all ages from Early Childhood through Collegiate, including 13 years at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s School, 15 years at St. Michael’s Church, and currently 7 years at Greenwich Country Day School.  In that time he has led students in pageants, musicals, and operas. He has led ensembles in NYC, nationally, and internationally, performing at the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, St. John the Divine, and on tour in England at Christ Church Cathedral Oxford, Westminster Abbey, and in France at Cathédrale Sainte-Croix d'Orléans, Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres, American Cathedral in Paris, and at Notre-Dame de Paris, and in Quebec City and Montreal.  His students have also had the opportunities to perform with incredible artists like Pete Seeger and Rollo Dilworth. They have participated in professional recordings as well as many concerts in NYC performing with professional orchestras and singers.

Mr. De Vries maintains a small voice studio of students and adults, and enjoys working with singers to expand their vocal skills, no matter their background and accomplishments.

Greenwich Country Day School

Jonathan De Vries is the Upper School Choral and Musical Theater Director, and the Performing Arts Diploma Coordinator at Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, Connecticut. Whether leading high school choirs or collaborating with professional ensembles, Mr. De Vries inspires musicians with passion and a deep commitment to musical excellence. 

He joined GCDS in 2019 as a part of the founding faculty of the Upper School (grades 9-12), and is in his seventh year. He has produced or directed shows each year, directs the Upper School vocal program, teaches music theory, studio voice, and music technology courses.
